Impossible is nothing at adidas US headquarters.

Liquid is hired by adidas to roll out the “Impossible is Nothing” campaign to the company’s US headquarters in Portland. Featuring images of athletes the likes of David Beckham, Reggie Bush and Gilbert Arenas, the banners that adorn the “adidas village” help support the global branding campaign, and also serve as an inspiration to visitors and employees alike.

Environmental Branding.
adidas understands the importance of leveraging their headquarters to make a statement about the brand. Like us, they believe that every opportunity to create a more memorable and meaningful brand experience should be capitalized. And that's why they asked us to leverage their global branding campaign and extend it to the adidas village in Portland. We call this "Environmental Branding". The objective for this assignment was to build more awareness for the "Impossible is Nothing" campaign with employees and visitors – and, in the case of the large exterior banners, with the many commuters that drive by the adidas buildings.

Inspiring Images.
The "Impossible is Nothing" campaign was re-launched as a dynamic expression of individual accomplishment through the drawings and words of some of the world's most amazing athletes. In these images, the athletes tell their own "Impossible is Nothing" stories. Some of the stories recall other kids making fun of them, or describe the fears they had to overcome in order to pursue their dreams. The stories and the drawings and the sheer athleticism of the sports figures are powerful reminders that courage, commitment and hard work can overcome almost anything. As such, they are a great point of inspiration for the employees of a company committed to beating the odds.

The importance of place.
When we start working on an environmental design project, we usually start with a site visit. We like to spend some time in the environment so we can observe the way that people interact with the space and the way that traffic flows through the buildings. This helps us identify the best locations for potential branding opportunities. In the case of adidas we ended up using a number of exterior and interior areas, some of which were a little less expected than others. Placing the images in a somewhat unusual place, gives us an opportunity to catch the audience by surprise - which makes the branding experience that much more memorable.

Impossible? Not here.
These days, many companies have gyms. Yet, not many companies build the kind of gyms that adidas built for its employees. Located in the middle of the adidas village, the adidas gym is a palatial structure where employees get to test their limits everyday. The gym was a perfect place in which to extend the campaign. Besides being exposed to a set of very inspiring images, the employees were also invited to track their goals and accomplish their own version of impossible. For some that meant losing 20 lbs. for others it meant running 10 miles...but for all it was a way to make the campaign come to life for themselves.
